April Adventures

April was a very fun but busy month. We were lucky enough to have a bunch of fun visitors in come see us this month.

Our first visitor was my very good friend, Bevin, who I worked with at the Partnership for Public Service. After a very busy week at work, I was very happy to be able to sneak out early to pick up the fabulous Ms. Johnston at the airport. We had a great lunch (and a Mexican Martini) at Vivo and had a very mellow but fun girls night out on Friday night. Saturday morning, Bevin, Jake and I went walking and then brunching downtown on Town Lake. It was an awesome walk and an awesome Brunch at Annie's. That night Jake stayed home with our babysitter, Kat, and Alex and I took Bevin out to show her a few more special spots in Austin.

Unfortunately, that night after we were home Jake woke up with croup-like symptoms. So we headed to the ER. We were there from midnight until 7am. It was not fun. Jake was fine in the end but is just prone to those symptoms. After a quick sleep we headed out to brunch with Bevin and Alex's friend Gordon. Alex had been planning to run the Capitol 10K but obviously was too tired to run it. At least we had the celebration brunch. The day went quickly and it was time to take Bevin to the airport. It was such a treat to have her visit. We're hoping for another visit soon.

After Bevin's visit, Alex headed to Chicago for a conference. While he was away we got to see my dad's first cousin, Sandy and her husband Jim from Philadelphia. Sandy was the first person to take swimming and came down to Philly to hang with my dad and Jake while Alex and I went out of town. Even though it was a short visit we had a great dinner.

Our next visitor was my old DC roommate and Jake's Godmommy, Libby and her boyfriend, Phil.
Libby came in first and just happened to arrive within minutes of Alex's flight in from Chicago. Jake and I were sitting on the front steps eagerly awaiting their arrival! We had the perfect evening for the former roommates...Torchy's Taco and talk! Phil came in later that night and we were excited to finally meet him. Whether Libby knew it or not, Phil needed the Ramati family thumbs up to continue to date our friend and thankfully he passed the test and she can happily keep him!

We headed out to a fabulous brunch (minus Jake's unbelievably non-Jake-like behavior) at the Eastside Cafe and then decided to drive out the 360 Highway just to show off some of Austin's scenery. We kept driving and ended up at the fabulous Mandola Winery. Jake loved the fountain and Libby taught him to make a wish in the fountain.
That night we went out sans Jake and with our friends Neal & Dominique. Neal and Libby went to business school together and Libby introduced us all when last summer when we all moved. We were excited to try Moonshine. We knew there would be a wait but never in a million years would we have expected (or believed that we'd stick out)a two hour plus wait. Thankfully, it was totally worth it and thanks to Alex's follow-up we have a very large gift certificate to make up for our experience. Despite the wait it was an awesome meal, a great night and the birth of Flibby!

It was a quick but great visit with Phil and Libby and we can't wait to see them again in Austin or San Fran! Before we took them to the airport, we had brunch at Trudy's, posed for some pics and Jake and I showed them the state capitol. Such a fun visit.

We loved having our visitors but it was nice to have a "quiet" weekend at home. Think this boy might be hungry?
Saturday afternoon was Neal & Dominique's annual crawfish boil. It was a beautiful day out and it was a really fun afternoon.
Jake found a new friend, Emma, at the Crawfish Boil. I think he just might have a thing for blonds.

Sunday morning we went to Central Market to meet up with our friends Cindy and Jackie. Kenny was away so we met the Grossman Girls for brunch. Central Market has a great playground and the kids loved it.

In honor of the Spurs being in the playoffs (and Leah's dad, Josh, being an even bigger fan than Alex), Jake and Alex broke out there gear. Alex liked to point out the fact that their jerseys (Ginobili and Parker) represented the backcourt.

Leah was Jake's first little friend and love interest since moving to Texas. We've been talking about a playdate forever but finally made a plan. We met Leah and her parents, Josh & Kelly, out at an awesome place called Angel's Ice House. Lots and lots of room for the kiddos to run around and go crazy!

What a fun month! Looking forward to May and more fun adventures of Jake.
