Adventures in June

The big adventure in June was Jake and Daddy's solo trip to North Carolina to visit Zayda and Dorry. Alex was a little nervous about the trip but he did great. In an either brilliant or questionable parenting decision we bought an iTouch for Jake as sort of an "in case of emergency" device. According to Alex it made the flights pretty simple.

Also "in case of emergency" was the secret stash of lollipops. Despite the face, he really, really loves a good lollipop.

Best text or Facebook post of the trip: "Just changed a diaper in an airplane bathroom. MacGuyver nor Jack Bauer have ever done that."

Dorry and Zayda were obviously excited for the Jake's visit! They had a great time hanging out and a visited the local Children's Museum.

Not surprisingly, Jake got lots of hugs and attention from Zayda and Dorry over the weekend.
It was a great trip and I have to admit that it was a nice and quiet weekend here in Austin. I very much enjoyed the quiet but was happy to have both boys home. At the airport, lollipop and water in hand, ready to come home!

The following weekend was Father's day weekend and we were excited to celebrate what a wonderful dad Alex is. To celebrate we went with our friends Kenny, Cindy and Jake's friend Jackie to see Toy Story 3! Alex is a HUGE Toy Story fan and was excited to introduce it to Jake. He had Woody and Buzz toys from when the first movie was released and passed them down to Jake who was immediately obsessed with them both. We promptly fed his addiction with other toys or "guys" from the series.

I thought he might be scared in since it was dark but he loved it. The movie was so great and Jake sat through the whole thing totally engaged. The movie was excellent and it was the perfect father's day for Alex.

Then the following weekend was my birthday. I wasn't really all that excited about it and wasn't expecting much but boy was I wrong. On Friday, we both took the day off and went to a local spa/resort called The Crossings. We were able to hike, swim and relax for a good part of the day. On my actual birthday I spent the day with my two favorite guys and got a great present (the iPhone 4) and had a surprise birthday dinner which was so fun!

We also had some time at Jake's new favorite spot where he can always get an open swing.

My most favorite birthday moment!
