April Fun brings May Weddings

April was a fairly quiet and nice month for us.

The weather has been nice and we've taken a teeny tiny step towards our landscaping projects with planting our first anything at the house. One day I came home and Alex had bought me a hydrangea plant. This is one of my most favorite flowers and was a key element in our wedding. We took a family trip to Home Depot and got all the necessary items to hopefully give this lovely little plant a new home.
Jake loves watering and especially the watering can. Our little plant is doing ok. It doesn't look quite as full as in the picture but we're trying.

April is the annual conference for my organization so I spent four days in Fort Worth while Daddy and Jake were bachelors in Austin. They did great together and had fun despite Alex having to take care of some lingering allergy problems that Jake has been having.

When I came home from my conference we had an unexpected visit from Jake's friend Jackie. Jackie is getting a baby brother or sister at the end of May and after a few days of not feeling well, Cindy went to the hospital to get things checked out and Jackie came to play with us.

They had a great time playing together and enjoyed Torchy's, adorableness in the bath and a fairly easy bedtime. Kenny and Cindy got back from the hospital around 11 and came and got her leading to a slightly confused Jake in the morning. "But Mommy, Jackie went to sleep here. Where did she go?"

I came back from the conference with an upper respiratory infection and remembered how unfun it is to be sick while pregnant. I was out two days from work and pretty much down for the count and fully missed Passover seder. Between my conference, being sick and school being closed for a good part of Passover, Alex really stepped up and had lots and lots of Jake time. Although we tried to give him some daddy-time, I want to really thank him for being so flexible and for stepping up!

During some of that daddy-time, Jake and I had a few fun playdates. First we hit Phil's Ice House with my yoga girls, Katie and Christa and Katie's daughter (2 1/2), Riley. Jake sure loves those cows!
We had a great time meeting Jake's girl, Leah, and her mom, Kelly for lunch right before our trip to San Francisco. Jake and Leah had so much fun playing outside on the playground while it was so nice for me and Kelly to finally be able to catch up. Minus a little sunburn (on me) it was a great afternoon out and lead to an awesome nap for Jake.
I had a day off from being at our annual conference which I spent in preparation for our trip to San Francisco for my Rachel's wedding and to hang with Jake during one of the many days off in April. We were out all day getting Jake a hair cut, having some lunch and of course a little shopping. How cute is this guy!
The final stop for the day was my 16-week doctor's appointment, that Jake accompanied me to. The baby is doing great and measuring where he/she is supposed to. The best part about the appointment was that Jake got to hear the heartbeat. I'm not 100% sure that he totally understood what he was hearing but he looked excited.

We headed out to SF on Thursday before the wedding. Jake was a great traveler and super excited to finally be going on our trip.

San Francisco did not disappoint with unbelievable weather and so much to do and see. The whole weekend was wonderful and Rachel and Warren threw a very fun wedding. More to come soon on the wedding but in the meantime here is my new favorite family picture.
