Surprise!!!

This weekend Jake and I went to Chicago for a well orchestrated birthday surprise for my mom/Grammy!

After we arrived, we made our way down to baggage claim and picked up our bags just in time to see her walking to pick up her luggage. We hid out of sight until she was closer when we jumped out and screamed "HAPPY BIRTHDAY"...let's just say she was surprised. She must have said, "what are you doing here" about at least a dozen times. Probably her best reaction was to say "I almost swallowed my gum!"
Below Jake shows Grammy his surprise face...I had forgotten this but long before Jake (and Alex for that matter) I came home to Eugene to surprise my mom for her 50th birthday.
We were excited to be in Chicago with Grammy, Aunt Judy, and my Grandma also known as Ruthe the Great but we missed our valentine at home. When we got to my grandma's apartment Alex had sent beautiful flowers and chocolates for all the ladies.
Jake loved running around my grandma's. He particularly loved the stool in the kitchen that he proceeded to push around like a toy. He seemed to love how much of the furniture in her house moved. He was also particularly interested in the dishwasher and took every chance he had to open or close it and push the buttons. Here he is "helping" with dinner but it looks like he forgot his pants again!
On Saturday we mostly just hung out at home and took a quick trip to the mall where of course Jake was treated to a few new outfits by Grandma Ruthe. The funniest thing was that Jake wanted, yes wanted, to wear his hat. We usually have to struggle to have him keep his hat on from the car to daycare but he wore it for most of the morning and into the afternoon.
Grandma has pictures up on her fridge of Jake with me, Alex, and his Auntie Rachel. At every chance he got Jake wanted to see the picture, pointing at the picture of Alex and he wanted to carry it around with him. What a dada's boy!

We had fun hanging out with Aunt Judy but had to make her go home on Saturday night to prep for a big conference she was running the next day.
On the plane home after a very fun weekend with the Diller-Sacks women! Happy Birthday Grammy, I love you!Speaking of birthdays and Grandmas....Happy Birthday to Dorry! I love you too!!
