On Sunday we took a trip to the Little Buckaroo Ranch where Jake's girl Leah had her 2nd birthday party. It was a bit of a trek into the Hill Country but well worth it. I think the fact that Jake fell asleep on the ride in and that there were swings that weren't just there for him at the picnic site added up to a grumpy little man. If we haven't mentioned it before Jake would spend all day on a swing if we'd let him.

They wrangled up all the little ones and started us on our tour of the ranch. First stop the goldfish pond to get kisses from fish. The idea was to just barely touch your fingertip into the water and the fishers would come and "kiss" your finger. Jake didn't quite get the concept but loved sticking his hand in the water!

After the fishes we saw some baby chicks and got to pet a bunny. Jake was relatively underwhelmed by this section of the tour. He did enjoy "Pet-a-Goat Junction"! The kids loved feeding the goats hay.

The highlight of the trip (at least pre-cake) was the pony ride. Based on his mood for most of the time I was totally surprised and pleased that Jake wanted to ride on the pony, especially since so many of his friends weren't quite sure what to make of it.

Finally it was time to eat and it was so cute seeing all the friends sitting together so nicely. Their teachers sure trained them well, if only they all acted like that at home! They of course loved cake and Jake was first in line.

Thanks to Leah and her mom and dad for throwing such a fun party. What a fun day!

In other news, I'm thrilled to report that our couch was finally delivered. It is great for snuggling!

Today we got the proofs back from Jake's school picture and I must say that Jake is the most ridiculous just about 2-year old little boy out there. Here he is on school picture day but you'll have to wait for the real thing.

Alex and I were both able to escape work long enough today to join Jake and all of his friends for an early Thanksgiving celebration. It was craziness with little ones running all around but we're so glad we didn't miss it. The highlight of course was watching Jake and his friends (particularly Leah of course) run around the social hall like crazy people. Too bad they moved to fast to capture any good pictures.
We can't believe that tomorrow is Jake's birthday and that he's turning 2! More to come from the birthday and the big birthday party next Sunday!
