Birthday Boy!

Our little baby boy turned TWO on November 17th! It is unbelievable how quickly those two years have been and also how absolutely wonderful they've been.

We couldn't resist giving a few early morning presents before he was off to school to celebrate there but tried to control ourselves. Jake's highlight of the night was of course the delicious cupcake that daddy went to find. Jake particularly enjoyed the fact that we let him have his dessert before dinner.

Just a small sampling of his birthday loot and a few pictures from our little family celebration. The brand new yellow and green tricycle (can you guess who purchased that one?) was a wonderful gift from my grandma aka Great. Alex and I fed Jake's Sesame Street and all things trains obsessions. I tried to show Jake how to use adorable fishing pole game from my mom but he thought it was much better to whack things with or to ride like a pony.

When you're little part of having a birthday means having a well-child check-up. We love our new pediatrician Dr. Rusk. I particularly loved her after she told me that beside checking out 100% healthy and climbing up the weight and height charts, that she thought that Jake was very smart and his speech and particularly his letter recognition was more like that of a 3 or 4 year old! Proud mama moment!

All weekend we talked to Jake about his birthday party on Sunday at Gymboree. It seemed like a win-win - he loves Gymboree, his teacher Mr. Mike and I didn't have to have the party at our house! It was such fun to see Jake and his friends (and their parents) running around like crazy people! They had a great time jumping, climbing, playing with the parachute and by the way, bubbles are like baby crack. Mr. Mike did a great job, it was a total success and most importantly Jake had a great time!

They loved the maracas and the silly things that Mr. Mike has them do with them. Above Jake and Leah are aliens. Below bubble time with Mr. Mike. Jake gets an extra big bubble.

Cupcake time! Jake actually blew out the candle by himself. His friend Adva in the background really wanted to help. I think we lucked out that Jake chose a yellow cupcake and that he chose to use a fork. We had some very cute but very blue and pink faces after that!

After cupcakes the kiddos got to run around and play and Mr. Mike was nice enough to extend our time a bit. Daddy swoops in for a kiss and it is time to go home!

Back home we opened our presents and everyone was so generous and gave very fun things. Jake loved having his party balloons on his bike. It was a very fun birthday week and by the end of it we were all ready for a nap!
