Trains, planes and automobiles? Thankfully our guests were able to drive to us so no planes and just Jake's trains.
Earlier in the week, Zeyda, Dorry and PeaPaw arrived in Austin after the long drive from North Carolina (with a stop in Atlanta to pick PeaPaw). We had fun showing the proud grandparents and uncle all of Jake's tricks and showing them his school. Jake had an entourage when we picked him up on Wednesday afternoon. This wasn't my first Thanksgiving as the hostesses but it was the biggest. We had 15 total and while the numbers grew I wasn't too worried about it all, mostly because I outsourced most of the holiday cooking to Central Market. Thank goodness for Central Market, Dorothy and Melanie for their wonderful help!!
Of course, everyone ends up in the kitchen! I take a quick picture break with Uncle Ken. And below, we finally sit down to eat.

One of the best things about Thanksgiving was watching Jake play with his (2nd) cousins, Josh and Talia (or Ta-ta as Jake called her).
We had a really fun time all being together and the food was great. Jake however may have been a little bored by the company. :)
After dinner we watched football, went for a walk, drank more wine and just enjoyed being together. Amazingly 12 of the 15 people actually slept at our house so the evening turned into a bit of a pajama party.
We worried that Philip Vivier may become PeaPaw 2 but instead he's 'Pippi' except when Jake says it it sounds more like 'hippie'.
We were sad to see everyone go but had a few extra days with Zayda, Dorry and PeaPaw before they headed back as well. We had fun taking them to one of our favorite new breakfast spots.

Thanks to PeaPaw who managed to find the very elusive Bert Sesame Street doll on an outing without either Alex or I. Jake and Ernie were very excited to have Bert join all the rest of the gang.
I must admit it was nice to have our house back but we're already thinking about Turkey-day (maybe without the turkey) next year.
