Summing up September

September has been busy but after our crazy fun summer it seemed almost calm (in a nice way).

I started a new job this month so that has been a big change but we've been getting used to the new schedule and seem to have things (mostly) under control.

Even though it is still hot out, it is finally fall. How do we know....FOOTBALL!

So far it hasn't been a great season for the Dawgs but it is still early and Alex is also a proud Duck fan and they're having a really great year so far. Here I'm teaching Jake to do the Oregon "O".

To celebrate Rosh Hashana we hosted dinner on the second night for a bunch of adults, one seven year old and four (almost) three year old little monkeys. We set up Jake's little table and instead of a holiday dinner it looked more like a double date.

In preparation for our Rosh Hashana dinner we moved all of Jake's toys in to the dining room to get them out of the way and to give the kids a great place to play. Unfortunately for me, it totally worked so we did a little rearranging to give Jake a totally awesome place for all of his dinosaurs, trains, trucks, "guys" and everyone else to hang out.

That weekend we set up a playdate but this time it was just as much for the dads and the kiddos. Jake and Leah had a great time as did Alex and Josh watching football. The mom's had fun too.

Since it is fall, the leaves are falling and someone has to rake up the leaves. Jake, get to work!

Yom Kippur followed the next weekend and Alex and I enjoyed the Kol Nidre service on Friday night without Jake but Saturday morning we went to the kids service with one of the rabbi's and Jake's music teacher Ms. Carol, Jake really enjoyed it it. He asked if we were going to "service" almost every day for the next week.

It's officially the start of birthday party season. The season kicked off with Jake's new classmate, Jack. By the way, have I mentioned that in addition to Jake there is a Jack, Jacob and Jackie? I mean come on. Seriously? Anyhow, Jack's party was at one of our favorite Austin spots, the children's museum. it was fun to see them all together and playing and of course the cupcakes didn't hurt either.
September was a nice month. October should be busier as birthday season continues, I have a number of work trips, and lots of fun stuff to do like get ready for Halloween.

Until next month enjoy Jake's theories on dinosaurs as he explores a future in paleontology.
