Merry Happy Everything!

Hanukkah came quickly after Jake's birthday, not that he minded getting even more presents getting presents has become the norm rather than the exception. Jake loved lighting the candles and of course opening the presents. He even surprised us by knowing the blessing and a few Hanukkah songs from school.

Opening up a present from Auntie Rachel and Uncle Warren. Mommy loves that Auntie Rachel works for Gap Inc.

Another night, more presents! Jake is definitely getting used to this! Such a cute photo!
All the animals and Hadley Bear wanted to play in Jake's new little take-along barn. I can't believe I didn't take more Hanukkah pictures.

We had a fun playdate with Jake's school friend, Alex. His mom, dad and baby sister, Brooke, came too! Snack break!

GO DUCKS! My Oregon Ducks have had an amazing season ending with a trip to the national championship on January 10th! We finally found some Austin Ducks so we ventured out to meet up with them for the Civil War! Even though Jake only lasted till half-time, it was great to be with other Ducks and it was a great win!! Win the Day!

We were very excited to go and spend the weekend in Plano with the Vivier's (Alex's cousin Brenna and her family) especially after we missed Thanksgiving at their house. Posing for a few family photos.
Watching Jake with his big (2nd) cousins, especially Talia (and with her friend below), makes me realize once again that our move to Texas was absolutely the right thing for us to do! Having family around (within a 2 (Houston)- 4(Dallas) hour drive) is so wonderful. Uncle Ken (now Papa) and Aunt Noonie were in town too so Jake got an extra dose of love (and more gifts from Noonie) from them as well!

Talia and Brenna took us on a walk around their neighborhood. Jake liked seeing the ducks and the fish. Talia was such a sweet big cousin to Jake all weekend!

At the park for playtime and football. Jake couldn't get enough of Tali pushing him on the swings. Brenna and I tried to stay warm while the boys and Talia played a little football. I think the teams may have been Alex and Philip vs. Michael and Josh with Talia and Jake coming in from time to time. At times it looked like they might use Jake as the football.

Jake literally fell asleep on Talia while she was reading to her. I offered to move him but she said she was ok because she didn't want to wake him up. Jake and Papa share a laugh at dinner. Poor Jake, so many pictures in just underwear!

It was a great weekend and we're excited to be back with them in January for Josh's Bar Mitzvah.

Silly daddy! We came home one afternoon to Annie Tyrannosaurus and Dooley having a lovely lunch of the Aliens from Toy Story. There's never enough snuggle time for Mommy and Jake, except maybe at 3 a.m.! Thanks to the potty training (I'd say we were at about 95%) we've been back to our old less than charming sleep patterns. :(
When we were in Dallas we missed (little) Alex's birthday party so when the next weekend rolled around he was so excited for Avi's birthday party! Avi's party was a cool gymnastics gym and we all had a really fun time.

Jake and Daddy met our friends Brian and Lily (4) out for lunch while Mommy went to Yoga. Look at our little cowboy!
Bubba came for a visit before heading off to Israel for a few months. Alex and I are always happy when Bubba comes because it usually means we get a vacation! This time we just had a mini-cation to downtown Austin but it was great. Of course, Bubba and Jake had a great time. So great that after about a month of poor sleeping again (I think it has to do with the potty training) he of course slept straight through the night for Bubba.

Jake introduces Bubba to one of his many new toys. This is Boris Tyrannosaurus. I think Bubba learned more about dinosaurs this trip than he ever wanted to. Jake introduced him to the Dinosaur Train website and in particular the field guide. They went through the dinos many, many times. What a good Bubba!
We had been waiting for Bubba's arrival to open one of Jake's presents from Bubba, the Saxoflute. It is a cool in concept, noisy in reality toy that let's you build your own musical instrument. Jake is becoming an excellent Saxoflutist.

Jake, Bubba and I ventured out on a rainy day to do a little shopping and to get out of the house. Jake caught up on some light reading!
We celebrated a traditional Jewish Christmas with Alex and my dad going to a movie and Chinese Food that night. After Christmas we skipped the crowds at the malls and instead Jake, Bubba and I headed out to Driftwood, Texas for a little wine tasting at Duchman Family Winery. It's close to Austin but something about being out there (granted, it could be the wine) makes me feel like I'm on vacation.
On Monday, Bubba met up with some friends from Houston for an excursion to the Texas Hill Country before heading out on his next adventure. Thanks Bubba for the great visit!

We had a lovely but quiet New Year's and are excited for all that 2011 might bring. We wish you all a very Happy New Year in 2011!
