February Fun!

For a short month February has been busy. The weather has been, well, schizophrenic with snow and temperatures in 80s. Seeing that it only snowed for one day I think we're still good with our location choice. We thought that DC shut down easily for snow, well Austin topped it! There were probably an inch of snow and everything shut down. The snow plus a power outage Alex stepped up with his own version of Daddy Day Care.

Later that week, the weather did a 180 and we had lovely sunny days in the 70's. Jake and I took a long walk on Sunday morning and spent some time at one of the local elementary school playgrounds. A little swinging and some rock climbing.

Later that afternoon, we headed over to our friends Neal and Dominique's to watch the Superbowl. Jake and Dominique have always been good buds but at the Superbowl party they fell in love, complete with a marriage proposal from Jake. Guess Jake didn't care that she is already married to Neal. Despite trying to marry his wife, Jake named the two little monster finger puppets Dominique gave him, Neal and Dominique.

The next weekend was Jake's friend, Jacob's birthday party at the Austin Children's Museum. Jake always love the cows!

Checking out the marble maze above. The museum changes up the exhibits often so there is always something new and fun to do! That said, thankfully, the kitchen never changes! Jackie and Jake whip up a gourmet meal.

Yum...lunch and cupcakes with friends! A very fun time followed by lunch with Avi and his mom Amie and baby brother Max.

We had a lovely Valentine's day brunch at Fonda San Miguel. Daddy and Jake in front of the restaurant.
The following weekend was the Austin Marathon. It was a nice treat to have Lisa come for the race and I was happy to get to spend some time with her and her friends who she was in town with. When Sunday rolled around were excited to go out and support all the runners. We found a great spot to watch the full marathon runners up by our house and was super excited to cheer on our good friend, Gordon. It was a tough race but Gordon did great and we were super proud of him and all the runners.
As noted during the Superbowl weekend, Jake and Dominique have made their love known for each other. Neil, although cautious of another man's advances towards his wife, seems to be taking things in stride. As such, we were so happy to celebrate Dominique's birthday with brunch at a great spot, Takoba. Jake carried in flowers for the birthday girl and the restaurant filled with ladies swooning over the cuteness that is Jake. Such super cuteness!

Playtime at the playground at the JCC after school one day. We've graduated from the baby swing!

March is starting over to be a great month and we can't wait to share more of our adventures with you!
