May started off with Rachel and Warren's fabulous wedding in San Francisco. After such a nice trip it was tough to come back to real life. Thankfully it was a short week and the weekend wasn't far off.
Jake had his last soccer class of the season. It happened during one of the rainiest days of the season so they were inside for the day. We'll definitely be back to soccer but are going to take a break for swimming lessons.

Above Jack and Jake look (mostly) ready to attack the ball. Below Jack, Alex and Jake take a break and the yellow team huddles up for a picture.

We had a nice and mellow weekend back in Austin including a wonderful Mother's Day celebration. On Saturday we headed to the Austin Kids Music Festival with Cindy and Jackie Grossman. It was random but fun to hang with them and other ladybug friends, Avi and Miles.

Ready for fun in the sun! Jake and Jackie loved the horses and probably each went 2 or 3 times!

In addition to the horses, seeing Clifford and the musical instrument house were the other big attractions for Jake.

On Mother's Day, Alex and Jake took me to a nice brunch and I had a really nice pregnancy massage. It was a great day!

Even though I had to miss the celebration at school, Jake's class put on an adorable tribute for their mom's.
The next week Alex headed out to DC for work so lots of mommy and Jake time for us. Jake and I took advantage of a quiet Saturday morning with a walk at Town Lake and a visit to the farmer's market.

Alex got back to Austin very late on Saturday night so we let him sleep in and rest up and left to meet Jake's friends Avi and Jack and their mommies and babies at Whole Foods for some lunch and playtime.
Jake's most recent obsession is all things tools, especially Handy Manny.

When we first moved to Austin my good friends, Becky & Nanci came to Austin and brought Jake a talking "Handy Manny" toolbox. At the time all I knew about Handy Manny was how annoying it was and how glad I was that Jake couldn't figure out how to make it work on his own. Fast forward to San Francisco when without our DVR filled with PBS shows for Jake, he was introduced to Handy Manny. It is actually very cute, educational and not totally annoying and Jake is totally obsessed with it. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a fix-it man around the house.

Watch out Top Chef here comes Jake. We recently bought a play kitchen for Jake and eventually for his baby sister. He loves it and it making all kinds of interesting concoctions.

Finishing off May was a really lovely Memorial Day weekend. We had Jake's friend Jacob, his parents, baby brother Max and friend over for brunch on Saturday morning. The kids played so nicely together, we barely saw them which made for a lovely morning for us. Thank goodness for his playroom!

Saturday night Alex and I escaped for a date and Jake got to a hang out with a babysitter and school her in all things Handy Manny. We went to Austin favorite, "Hula Hut" where the wait may be long but the view is worth it.

Sunday we took Jake to his first baseball game. Our local minor league team is the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Besides being very hot out, we had a great time. Jake and Alex got gear and Jake made friends with two couples who were grandparents to-be who thought that Jake should have every toy and item in the store. They even gave Jake a t-shirt that they had a voucher for. So sweet! Jake also walked away with a new hat (as did daddy) and his first bat and ball. I fought the bat purchase at first but it was sure cute!

Jake checks out Spike the Round Rock Express mascot. Jake called him "puppy" for most of the game!

We had a great and productive (pictures to come in June) Memorial Day weekend and an all-around nice and mellow May.
