Baby's First Passover (and visit) to North Carolina

We just returned tonight from North Carolina where Jake attended his first Passover Seder. Jake's "East Coast" grandparents retired to the area about a year & a half ago and in fact just moved to a new house recently, so there was lots of excitement happening and especially whenever you get Jake around his grandparents.

Now, getting to Cary takes about 5 hours with no stops, and for the most part our drive down there on Friday morning was pretty calm and other than introducing both Jake and his mom to a southern tradition known as the Cracker Barrel for breakfast, there were no other stops. Jake was reasonably easy during his 'first' road trip.

Part of the 'plan' of this weekend was to give Becca an early Mother's Day present and send her to a nearbye spa on Saturday morning, while I watched Jake with my parents and my brother, especially since my dad & brother were going to be locked into a 4 hour fantasy baseball draft that morning, and I didn't want Becca to have to sit around. The fly in the ointment is that they mis-judged the start of the draft, so Becca and I spent a portion of our afternoon at a Chili's with Jake so that I could watch Playoff Basketball.

Daddy and Jake enjoying the Spring weather:

The start time of the Seder was around the time we've tried to establish as Jake's bed time, but considering the occasion, we wanted to have him at the table for the first part - after all, my parents expected Jake to be able to do the "4 Questions", even at just over 5 months old (ha!) Jake in his "I love Matzoh" bib (thanks to his Great Aunt Loretta), was of course, a major distraction in a good way.

Jake with his dad & his Zeyda:

Though we needed to get back to the DC area today for work tomorrow and couldn't stay the second night, it was nice to be able to bring Jake to my parents' traditional Seder for his first one.
