Happy Birthday, Daddy!!

Wednesday was Alex's birthday and Jake and I (and apparently the weather gods)set out to make it a very fun day for our favorite Dada-guy! We woke up to snow and icy and other winter ick and were pleased to learn that we'd be able to spend the whole day celebrating at home.

Jake remembered to go out and get his daddy a card which made Alex very happy. It didn't hurt that there were bulldogs on the card either. I remembered to get him a card too but he didn't think that was quite as impressive as Jake remembering. We had a fun and leisurely breakfast and just really enjoyed the day.

Later that day I took Alex to get his present, an iPhone. You may remember that I recently got the iPhone and since that day Alex has been coveting it. So now he has his very own new toy...I mean phone.

Finally, our friend Carolyn came over for dinner and we had BBQ and cake with white icing (Alex's favorite). So I think overall it was a great, low-key birthday just like he wanted.

Besides celebrating Daddy's birthday, January has been a busy month!

In other birthday news, today is Jake's Uncle Phillip's birthday as well. Happy Birthday Uncle Phillip!!

Jake's Auntie Rachel came to hang out before 6 months in Africa and Europe. Jake has promised to be able to say "I love you Auntie Rachel" by the time that she comes back. We'll get right on that! Here Jake and Auntie Rachel snuggle up on the couch.
The whole family went for a playdate with the Griffin's and Jake's girl, Hadley. The pictures aren't that great but mostly because it was hard to slow them down to sit for a picture! Hadley is so cute, no wonder she's one of Jake's favorites. Below, Had's mom Layton watches Jake as he tries out all Hadley's cool toys.

We also got to spend a very fun brunch (as always) at Karen and Elliot's. Auntie Rachel and Warren came over as did Steph. Jake had a great time reading with Uncle Elliot and of course loved Auntie Karen's food!

As you may have noticed (particularly from the growing belly) that Jake really seems to like food! Here he is after having lasagna for the first time! I mean, who wouldn't love noodles, cheese, and tomato sauce?

He also loves looking at books, which we love! Here he is studying a book about shapes in his Carolina shirt from Uncle Ken and Aunt Loretta.

It is hard to believe that Jake is already 14 1/2 months. We're still having so much fun (as you can see) with him and enjoy everyday we have with him.
