Big news!

We sold our house, well it's under contract! We're moving to Austin, Tx and I have a new job!


Yes, big and exciting changes! Although we're really excited about the news it is still hard to even imagine that we won't be in DC! We'll really miss everyone here but are looking forward to new adventures.

Austin is a great city and we're excited about life there and all that we can give to Jake in a little bit more relaxed city. We're thankful that Alex can just start working in the Austin office instead of in DC which meant we only had to look for one job instead of two. I was just offered and accepted a job as the Chief Development Officer with an organization called the ACTIVE Life Movement (http://www.activelifemovement.org/).

Jake is blissfully unaware of all this excitement and continues on just being the same delicious monkey as always. Now for a re-cap from this past weekend and general cuteness.

Saturday morning we headed out to do some errands and get Jake a haircut but first Jake gets ready by brushing his teeth. He's getting quite good at the brush your teeth dance. We'll have to work on getting that on video!

So off we went to find breakfast and to start our busy day out with the man!


So Jake's first two haircuts weren't pleasant experiences for any of us, so we finally got smart and found a shop that specializes in kids cuts. So we headed to Cartoon Cuts and one Wiggles video later the haircut was done. What a difference!

Looking sharp after his haircut, Jake hangs with his buddy Elmo. Elmo is also his favorite word.

That night we were happy to have Matt, Melissa, and Olivia Grossman come over for dinner. We had a great time just hanging out and it was so cute watching jake check out Livi and pointing to her and saying "bay-bay" in the sweetest little voice.


Sunday was Cousins Day!

Here we are hanging out on Sunday morning before our busy day began. Jake finds the door makes an excellent prop for a game of peek-a-boo. Below Jake shows off his new understanding of smiling for the camera. Can anyone say "cheese"!

Sunday morning Jake and Alex went to Gymboree and gave me some much needed gym time before heading off to brunch (glad I had the time at the gym) at the delicious restaurant 3 in Arlington.

We started out in D.C. visiting Alex's cousin Russell and his girlfriend Shawn. Russell and Shawn just moved in to a beautiful new condo and we went by to see the place and hang out for a bit. Jake had fun running around the empty apartment and especially getting to play with Russell and Shawn! And did I mention the boxes, he loved the boxes.


Jake is getting close to being able to jump. He gets close but his feet don't quite make it off the ground. Here Shawn tried to help him get some air.

We let them get back to their unpacking and headed to Maryland to see the Schwartz cousins. It was a full house with Karen and Elliot, Sarah and Graham, Zach hanging out before heading to U of O this fall for Grad School (Go Ducks!), Dan home from Vancouver, Steph, and even the Fishman's! Jake had a great time playing with all the cousins and as always loved Auntie Karen's food and sitting with Uncle Elliot and reading books.

Albert tells another one of his great stories to Elliot and Jake! And below Jake loves the ladies, hanging with Sarah and Steph.


It was quite a Sunday!

Watch out for a blog coming soon from Dada. This coming weekend I'm helping to host a baby shower on Saturday and a bridal shower on Sunday, so I'm sure Jake and dada will have some blog-worthy adventures.
