Weekend Updates

Things have been busy lately and the blog has suffered. But we're back to give an update on the man! Jake is growing quickly, is chatting away, loves playing with his toys and he's just so much fun. He particularly likes his new lego/duplos from Auntie Sandy. It's particularly fun to dump them all out of their container and to then throw the container.

We've been waiting for Big Bird for a long time but are glad that he's finally here. Big Bird is a gift from my Grandma, Ruthe (Ruthe the Great). She ordered him for Jake and he was supposed to arrive when Jake and I were in Chicago in February but sadly he didn't arrive in time. So we were excited when he flew in to Alexandria instead. Hugs and kisses for Big Bird from Jake.

Last weekend we had a quick visit from Zayda and Grandma Dorry that included a night out for mom and dad and a fun brunch out before they headed up to Pennsylvania for a few days.

This weekend has been so fun with lots of friends but very busy. On Friday it was our very good friend Shana's 30th birthday. So we were excited for a fun night out and Jake was excited to hang out with a special babysitter, our good friend and my co-worker, Elizabeth. I was out celebrating with a pre-dinner drink with Shana but according to Alex, Jake was happy to see Liz and was just fine with daddy taking off. In fact, he even waved bye-bye. Liz, thank you so much for the (free) night out!

Saturday morning Jake and I headed out for a morning playdate with one of Jake's first friends, Hadley, and her mom Layton. Although we don't see them enough when ever we get together it is always so fun and they're so cute together. Once again they didn't disappoint.

The most cute moments by far was the Jake-Hadley make-out session!

It's a good thing that Had's dad Aron was still upstairs and didn't witness the kiss! After the make-out session we headed out to the park where the little ones ran around. Jake managed to get into a fight with the climbing structure resulting in a big old bruise on his forehead. He should have asked Hadley to kiss it and make it better. :)

Sunday morning we had brunch with our unexpected visitors Leigh and Tonya Goldman. Alex and Leigh were friends at Georgia and reconnected last year. After brunch Alex went with Leigh and Tonya to see the cherry blossom's and Jake and I headed to the park to catch up with a few of our PACE (mom's group) friends. Below Jake looked like a cool rider on this bike and he catches up with Cole and Emily. Finally, we tried to get them all together. This sure was a lot easier when they couldn't move!

Not worth a picture but we're finally done with our taxes and it wasn't a miserable experience, especially since we didn't owe any money! Another very fun weekend...here's hoping that it is a quick week.
