Jake wonders "now where are they taking me"?

I think it is important to insert a disclaimer here; based on our pictures from the trip it is clear that Jake's parents are obsessed with him and that you'd never know that he was actually in Portland. From now on we'll try to do a better job of including the scenery in our pictures of Jake!
We spent some time exploring the city before heading over to our friends Bonnie and Ryan's house. Jake wasn't thrilled about the extra time in the car but was cute even when crying! Would you look at those tears!

We had a great time on Wednesday night with friends who had moved back to Oregon from DC - Joe and Gail Greenman and Bonnie and Ryan Flynn. The Flynn's have a fantastic house and were wonderful hosts. Having Jake at the house was a good trial run for the Flynn's who are expecting their own little one in October and we're SO excited for them.

On Friday we caught up with my old co-worker from my DeFazio days, Kathie Eastman Tell. We got to spend a little time with her and her adorable 2-year old Ben. Later that afternoon we moved downtown and checked into our hotel (Jake's first hotel experience) for the rest of the trip.

While we waited for my mom (Grammy) to come up from Eugene for the rest of the weekend we took a walk along the river and did a little more exploring around downtown. Alex went to meet up with an old Savannah friend and Jake and I waited for Grammy to finally arrive. It is a good thing that we had plans to go out that night with my 2nd little sister, Rachael Dollinger and her new husband Trent, because Grammy was ready for some QT with Jake!

Saturday we had brunch with my cousin Kevin, his wife Marnie, and their beautiful little girl Frankie. First of all, their house is amazing with the most impressive view of Portland that I've ever seen. Kevin made an awesome breakfast and to quote Frankie, it was "deeeelisious". After breakfast we headed down to NW 23rd Street, a really fun shopping area in Portland. Jake was a trooper hanging out in the baby bjorn. While Jake already has his own personalized Oregon license plate, I had a little fun with my mom and Alex who thought that this was a random pairing of names!

Since we were flying all day on Mother's Day, Alex and Jake took us out for an early celebration on Saturday night. Then Grammy and Jake hung out while Alex and I went on a date and actually went to a movie. While we were at the movie, Jake did his first art project (ok - Grammy did it and Jake slept) a card for me for for Mother's Day!
It was a great trip and Jake was great on the flight home. He even had time to start a new book!

Even though we were stuck in the airport all day I couldn't think of any place better to spend my first Mother's Day with Alex and Jake!
