First up, one of my very good friends during my days in Athens at the University of Georgia, Leigh Goldman. Leigh splits his living these days between the Virgin Islands and Philadelphia, and Leigh hopped the train down from Philadelphia on Tuesday to spend the day in D.C., so we could catch up over lunch & dinner, and so Leigh could finally meet Becca and Jake.

It was really nice to see Leigh who I hadn't seen in just over ten years, but catching up it felt like we had picked up where we left off. Becca certainly made him feel right at home by putting Jake in one of his best Georgia Bulldog outfits.
Another re-connection through facebook was someone I went to elementary and middle school with in Savannah, my friend Carolyn Wirth. I had run into Carolyn a couple of times and last Fall, Becca and I ran into her over dinner in Arlington when Becca was still about 7 months pregnant.
But it wasn't until we started talking more through facebook that Carolyn and I caught up again a few weeks ago, and she was finally able to come over to the house this weekend to hang out with the family and share some wine and cheese.

Just like with Leigh, it's been a lot of fun to share funny, old memories with Carolyn, and amazingly, she even remembers so well the day I fell back in my chair and cracked my head open in our fifth grade language arts class! (don't worry, I think I didn't lose too many brain cells). Carolyn & Jake certainly hit it off and I'm sure she'll be back over to hang out with him again soon.
