Worrying about family & friends during Hurricane Ike

A mix of a lot of things this week, most notably Hurricane Ike pounding Houston and Galveston, which meant our friend Jessica was unable to come to town - thankfully, Jessica and the rest of our family and friends in Houston are OK.

Jake may have also been worried about Ike as he climbs under the excersaucer (or he was just chasing an errant cheerio):

Saturday saw the arrival of my old friend Ben Tillinger, who was visiting from Boston for a Medical Conference in D.C. When I say old, Ben and I have known one another since we were one year olds, growing up in Savannah together.

We spent a good portion of Saturday watching Georgia barely survive their football game, and then Sunday, Ben was able to spend some quality time with the family.

Here, Ben and Jake become fast friends:

After brunch, Jake accompanied his poor, overworked mommy to the office, who's in the midst of preparing for the Sammy Awards Tuesday night, her organization's biggest event of the year.

Here Jake tries out mommy's desk:

Finally, here are some cute pictures from earlier in the week when mommy was a little less stressed and was able to take Jake on a nice walk.

Mommy, I'm too small to look over the swing:

Someone get me out of this seat!
