Weekend Fun: Anniversary Edition

Although most things are all about Jake, Friday night was all about me and Alex as we celebrated our four-year anniversary. I can't believe our fantastic wedding celebration was four years ago. Sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday.

On the University of Oregon campus before our wedding.

I'm very thankful for Alex as a friend, husband, and now dad (we did make one fantastic kid together). So Friday night Alex arranged for Jake's sitter Emily to come and hang out so that we could have a dinner out. We went to Bookbinder's in Old Town. It was really nice and very delicious. As Alex has said, this may have been our most mellow anniversary (not going out of town) but it is our best because we have a Jake!

Saturday I helped to host a baby shower for our very good friend Shana. She and dad-to-be Greg are having a little boy for Jake to play with and are due in early September. Greg and Shana were of one of the first to come and see Jake in the hospital!

With me gone to play with the girls, Jake and daddy had big plans for the day. Although the started off a little rough with Jake forgoing his normal morning nap, they had a fun day together. For you loyal blog readers it was a bit like a redux of daddy day from a few months ago. Jake only napped in the car. So on the way to lunch with our friend Rick and on the way home. Not surprisingly Jake had all the waitresses coming by to the boys table to meet Jake. He was the hit of Champp's Sports Bar.

Catastrophe
almost hit on the way home when Alex got to the car and realized that Jake's tiger blanket lovey and BFF (a gift from Grandma Dorry and Zayda) was missing. Thankfully they retraced their steps and found him!

I guess daddy didn't eat enough at lunch!

Shana's shower was really nice and it was so nice to celebrate her and the little one on the way. After all day with Jake, we thought that daddy deserved a night out himself so he went out with a friend to catch a movie. Jake and I headed over to Shana's for a little BBQ and to hang out with some of the other hostesses.

On Sunday morning we took Jake swimming. Even thought we live not even a block away from the pool it was the first time in almost 4 years that we actually took advantage of it. It was a bit colder then the bathtub but Jake didn't seem to mind as much as Alex and I did. He loved going fast through the water with daddy and I was brave enough to take him underwater via Auntie Sandy's instructions and he did great.

It was a very fun weekend! Now Jake and I are getting ready for a few days of alone time because Alex is off to Atlanta for work. But lucky for us our cousin Ashley (and babysitter from last weeks blog) will be our house guest for a few days before she heads out of DC. We're also excited to see her mom, Aunt Cindy, and and maybe even Jake's big cousin, Russell. I'm sure we'll be reporting on that next week!
